Global 8000 Maiden Flight Ushers in Era of Mach 0.94 Business Jets
Bombardier’s first production Global 8000, now the world’s fastest business jet, has completed its flawless inaugural flight from the company’s Mississauga facility.
The aircraft reached a major milestone, as it prepares for entry into service later this year, promising Mach 0.94 top speed and 8,000 nautical mile range; unmatched in the business aviation sector.
Key Points
Inaugural flight date and location: The maiden flight occurred on May 16, 2025, departing from Bombardier's Aircraft Assembly Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.
Performance benchmarks: The Global 8000 achieves Mach 0.94, making it the fastest civil aircraft since Concorde, and offers an industry-leading range of 8,000 nautical miles.
Cabin and comfort: Features include an ultra-low cabin altitude of 2,900 ft, four living zones, a dedicated crew rest area, and advanced noise and air quality systems.
Operational flexibility: Retains the Global 7500's short-field performance, enabling access to smaller airports while supporting long-haul routes such as Dubai-Houston and London-Perth.
Heritage and evolution: Builds on the success of the Global 7500, which has over 250,000 flight hours and 200+ deliveries since 2018.
The aircraft now heads to Bombardier's Laurent Beaudoin Completion Centre in Montreal for interior outfitting, with entry into service scheduled for the second half of 2025.
