Dear Readers, Welcome to AviationOutlook.

JetBlue is again trying to move beyond the coach-only identity (besides Mint) that defined it for a quarter-century.

On July 27, the carrier confirmed that its new domestic first-class product, BlueFirst, will begin appearing on non-Mint aircraft & routes later this year.

The announcement paired the product with a completely restructured fare shelf built around four onboard experiences and three fare tiers. For an airline that spent decades marketing free snacks and 32-inch pitch as its differentiator, this is a genuine identity shift.

Domestic first-class demand has been the hottest revenue category in the industry for three years running.

The real question is whether JetBlue can execute a me-too product late enough to still capture the margins that made competitors chase it in the first place.

Let’s analyze everything in detail.
