Southwest ended the second quarter of 2026 with 803 aircraft after receiving 13 Boeing 737-8s and retiring 10 jets in the quarter; full-year plans call for 64 MAX 8 deliveries against roughly 60 retirements.

Introduction

The operating fleet today rests on four 737 variants. The 737-700 remains the backbone by count, with 294 of them still flying. The balance is made up of larger 737-800s and 737 MAX 8s, with the MAX 8 share climbing every quarter.
